VCU COC
rebranding & identity, print, marketing, app UI
VCU COC is a student organization at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) that supports students in their Christian faith and fellowship. Recognizing the need of being established in their brand and desiring a new beginning with the influx of new students, I was commissioned to rebrand their presence on the VCU campus with an approachable and memorable brand image.

brand guide
As the previous logo lacked brand presence, we wanted to create a combination logo that incorporated a symbol that would express their mission and be recognizable. By shortening the full name and incorporating a sheep symbol to represent their Christian faith (sheep being a reference to believers), the updated logo is more simple, communicative, and memorable.
The logo was designed in a way where it can be simplified either with emphasis on the letterform or the sheep symbol. By providing these options, the secondary logos can be used according to the need and nature of their application.
Sheep imply discipleship, shepherding, and care. They are also used as a metaphor to describe Christians. By using sheep as the main symbol, VCU COC was portrayed as a place to receive care and direction in their Christian faith.
The color palette was inspired both by VCU colors (black & gold) to have the club’s presence in the context of the VCU campus and the sheep imagery—teal for green pasture and beige for the sheepskin.
A set of icons was designed to be implemented across various channels including mobile application UI, social media banners, and marketing flyers. Simple icons using brand colors communicate a wide array of ideas in a cohesive way. Visual icons aid and complement text to add personality, grab attention, and leave a memorable impression.
